A Competition Board Entry: La Juanita. An Argentinian House by the River
This project, set along the Parana river front, sparked a range of ideas rooted in Argentinian culture. Through research, it became clear that local markets play a huge role within the community of Parana. Inspired by this, the design concept, shown in the sketches on the left, draws directly from the structure and spirit of these markets. The home was intentionally spread across multiple buildings, each inspired by the stall-like forms found in the markets of Buenos Aires, celebrating their rhythm, openness, and communal essence. Further inspiration for the site layout came from looking at the shapes found in a Nolli map of Buenos Aires. This analysis helped guide the placement of the market-style buildings, allowing the design to connect with Argentina’s capital and the workplace of the client.
